Alpine Athlete Rankings Help And InformationWelcome to the Athlete Points System (APS) help and information pages. The web based APS was introduced for the 1998-99 Season. There have been a few problems along the way, but we belive we have developed a system that is of great use to our members and visitors. We have had, and expect to continue to have, issues; the system as a whole is working very well. We have built in a lot of enhancements including alpine officials tracking, dynamic athlete histories, member lookup and race results viewer. We have made a lot of progress in our systems and procedures in the last few years. We have placed a lot of demands on our Race Administrators and Organizers, but we hope we are providing them with all of the tools they need to meet our specifications. Together we can create a finely tuned Athlete Points System providing current and accurate data to our members. Browser IssuesThe best way to be sure that your web browser will work on our pages, and on other web sites, is to be sure that you have the most current version of your browser. Web browsers are made available for free from a variety of companies, including Microsoft and Netscape. AOL Browser - It has come to our attention that the AOL browser does not support Active Server Pages, the latest technology used to create this interactive site. You can however log onto AOL and then using this connection, start up Internet Explorer or Netscape and use one of these browsers to access our site. Internet Explorer 3.0 - You can view and utilize all of the pages of the APS but we have come across a quirk that makes it appear that pages are only partially loading. This is the use of the "Enter" key. If you are using IE 3, you must make your selections with your mouse only. If you use your "Enter" key, information is not passed from one page to another, resulting in a partially loaded page. Netscape Navigator 4.0 - We have not found any problems using Netscape 4, but we have noticed that Internet Explorer 4.0 will allow you to highlight all of the data generated in from the USSA/FIS Rankings page and paste it perfectly into Excel. Quite a useful function for coaches. However, Netscape 4 cannot accomplish this successfully. |
